Physics Talks is a series of events aimed at connecting the students of Engineering Physics with Physics Engineers, who will share their professional and personal life experiences, and inspire the students for their future careers!

Wondering what is the path that brings physics engineers to work for national and international companies?
The guests of this 6th Physics Talks event are Andrea Comi, Erika Mogni and Federico Sala, who will share their experience about working in a Company. Starting from their studies, they will guide us through their path to industry, unveiling the challenges and the opportunities that it offers.
When: May 15, 2024 – 6.15 pm
Where: Room 8.1.1
Registration: the event is free but we kindly ask you to register at this link for organizational purposes.
Join the discussion! See you soon! π
More about the speakers
Andrea Comi: I am Andrea Comi and I work as Avionic System Engineer for Leonardo Helicopters Division. I graduated in 2021 with a specialization in Photonics and Nano Optics, after graduation I continued my thesis work with a research fellowship for CNR. After completing my academic experience I decided to start a career in a company and I joined Technoprobe, where I worked as a Laser System Engineer in the manufacturing plant of devices for microchip testing.
After two years spent in Technoprobe I had the chance to move to Leonardo where I am working on the integration of avionic systems on helicopters.
Erika Mogni: I’m Erika Mogni, Product Development Expert at Bluethink, an engineering company based in Milan. My academic journey began at Poli with a Bachelor’s degree in Ingegneria Fisica, followed by a Master’s degree in Engineering Physics, and culminated in a PhD in Experimental Physics in collaboration with the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Vienna. After completing my PhD, I was eager for a change and to experience life outside academia. That’s why I decided to challenge myself and finally discovered what a physics engineer can do after university. Spoiler alert: we rock!
Federico Sala: I’m Federico Sala, Team Leader of Laser Process Engineer team at Technoprobe, one of the leading italian companies in the field of microelectronic testing. I’ve done my bachelor and Master degree at Polimi, in Engineering Physics, focusing my career in the field of Photonics and laser microfabrications. I’ve continued my academic career with a PhD in Physics, using lasers and optofluidosc to fabricate mivrodevices for biological studies. During my years of PhD, I worked with some other friends of the Department to fund and develop the Student Chapters, an organization meant to empower and link students and to share with others our passion for science.
After my PhD, I decided to poke at the world outside academia, and I joined the Laser Process team at Technoprobe, where I could continue on working on what I liked to: drilling (micro-)stuff with light.
