We invite alumni of Engineering Physics to share their professional and personal life experience, and hopefully inspire the students for their future careers in Academia, Industry, Tech and Business!

Physics Talks è una nuova serie di eventi seminariali organizzata dagli Student Chapters del Politecnico di Milano (Optica, EPS e SPIE) insieme al Dipartimento di Fisica del Politecnico di Milano.

Questa serie di seminari in lingua inglese ospita giovani ricercatrici e ricercatori, founder di start-up tecnologiche, R&D engineers etc.. con una sola cosa in comune: una laurea in Ingegneria Fisica al Politecnico di Milano.

L’obiettivo è connettere le studentesse e gli studenti di ingegneria fisica con persone laureate in Ingegneria Fisica, le quali condivideranno le loro storie, le loro esperienze e, ovviamente, tanta Fisica!

Sono stati proprio gli studenti – tramite i loro rappresentanti – a chiedere alle persone che fanno parte degli Student Chapters di organizzare questi seminari, perché il loro grosso problema è che non hanno una chiara idea del ruolo dell’ingegnere fisico nel mondo del lavoro.

In ciascun evento le persone invitate iniziano presentando la loro storia nel mondo universitario e nel mondo del lavoro (circa 30 minuti). Segue una fase di Q&A (15-30 minuti) dove le studentesse e gli studenti di ingegneria fisica avranno piena libertà di chiedere qualsiasi curiosità (e.g., come hai fatto a scegliere questo percorso lavorativo? Quali sono le principali difficoltà che hai dovuto affrontare quando hai fatto questa scelta? Cosa ti piace/non ti piace del tuo lavoro di tutti i giorni? Etc.).

Tutti gli eventi sono organizzati in formato ibrido, ovvero con speakers e partecipanti in presenza, ma con anche la possibilità per chi vuole partecipare da remoto di connettersi tramite la piattaforma Webex.

L’evento sarà principalmente indirizzato ai corsi del 4° e 5° anno di Ingegneria Fisica, per presentare storie di diverse professioni che sono seguite al corso di laurea in ingegneria fisica con cadenza biennale.

Physics Talks is a new series of seminars organized by the Student Chapters of Politecnico di Milano (Optica, EPS e SPIE) and the Physics Department of Politecnico di Milano.

We host young researchers, start-up founders, R&D engineers, and many other professional figures with only one thing in common: a degree in Engineering Physics from Politecnico di Milano.

The goal is connecting the students with the alumni of Engineering Physics, who will share their stories, their experiences, and – obviously – some physics!

The representatives of Engineering Physics – on behalf of the students – a asked the Student Chapters to organize these seminars, since they really struggle to figure out what the role of a Physics Engineer is in real life…

During each event the speakers start presenting their career path (~30 mins). A Q&A session follows (15-30 mins) where the students from Engineering Physics can freely ask any question or curiosity to the speakers (e.g., how did you choose to do this job? What are the main difficulties you had to face when you made this choice? What do you like/dislike about your daily routine at work? And more).

The format will be hybrid, speakers on site, and participants both onsite and remotely connected via Webex for those who wish.

Physics Talks is maily directed to the 4th and 5th year courses of Engineering Physics, to present over the two years of master all the different jobs the students might end up doing.
